The Supreme Court has sent a Appeals Court decision back down to them and said leave the presently drawn maps by the legislature in place for the April primary. This was a victory for the Republican majority and a rebuke of the leftwing whiners. HERE is the the news article.
I am glad this interim decision has been made and I hope it holds for the balance of the years elections. California's redistricting was hijacked by the left and we may see a two generation minimum hegemony of liberals here. I know of one lawsuit regarding the State Senate districts and my guess is the democrats will prevail.
In Texas the state gained 4 Congressional seats and the left was determined to gerrymander the lines to benefit them. This was spoiled because Republicans are in charge there and they drew one heavily hispanic district and three competitive ones. The democrats sued to get all four.
We will see what happens across the country with all the redrawing going on. Since the Tea Party helped elect over 650 legislators nationwide last November, most states are now run by Republicans. California is a lost cause but the Congress will probably gain Republicans from the other states. Texas will have 36 seats and hopefully will offset the lefty democrats coming from our once great state.
